The band emerged in 2000 when four guys
(Daltri Barros – Vocals / Rhythm Guitar; Guill Erthal – Lead Guitar; Patrick Siliany – Bass; Victor Cunha – Drums) decided to bet their chips on a bold proposal: to lead a rock band from an evident anonymity in a quiet Brazilian country town to a real chance of success in the world.
If you ever visit their hometown, the last thing you would expect to find is a super talented band singing American style Rock.

South Cry was born in a small country town in the interior of Brazil.
Daltri Barros, the lead singer of South Cry, has taught himself English by writing most of his lyrics in English. He learned to play guitar when he was 15 years old, and has made his music the main goal of his life.
Coming from humble upbringings, all four musicians in the band have endured every possible hardship expected to any musician or band who dream of having their music heard and appreciated. Their passion for their music and the desire to make a sound which would transcend beyond their village farm fences and expectations, is what has kept South Cry relentlessly trying to reach out to the world.

Their first album, “Beyond Metaphor” (2003), reflects what Daltri Barros (lead singer) calls a scientific experiment, this album was made using borrowed instruments and recorded in a put together studio. “Beyond Metaphor” carries that original and raw ingredients and emotion felt by the band while being for the first time in the studio, making this album an interesting and unique part of their history.

As the band progressed through private funding, they were able to acquire their own instruments and recorded their second album “Keep an eye on me” (2008), at a professional studio in Rio de Janeiro. Their second album is, metaphorically speaking, an architect; it is bold, dynamic, has a lot of visual elements and design, and is full of musical buildings.

In 2009, South Cry was discovered by an American investor traveling in the region, who took over the management of the band, leading them to record their third album “Blue Moon” (2010), at the legendary Compass Point Studios, located in Nassau, Bahamas. Grammy winner producer, Sylvia Massy, travelled from California to work with the band in Nassau.

“Blue Moon” is South Cry’s continuous quest to make music that anyone can feel and relate to. This third album is the poet that came to heal some wounds; it is naked, raw and organic. It is simple but honest and meaningful.

Each album reflects a particular musical moment of the band, and you can discover all three of them, now available on ITunes & Amazon.
