South Cry almost ready to debut their new album “Blue Moon”

November 23rd, 2010

The album was recorded this past May to July (2010) at Compass Point studios in Nassau, Bahamas.

Grammy Award winning producer, Sylvia Massy, met the band in Nassau. It was the first time the band has worked with a producer and having one the caliber of her really made a difference.

Jared Scott (engineer/producer) from Melbourne, Australia also made it to Nassau to work with the band during this recording.

The music was mixed at Radio Star Studios in Weed, California.

Mastering was performed by Tom Baker of Los Angeles, California.

A release date is expected to be announced soon. For now please check out the 30 second samples:

Paradox and Lord Of Sound already climbing up the charts!

November 23rd, 2010

It’s just been just a short while and already two songs from the new “Blue Moon” CD have found their way onto top 100 charts.  The song “Paradox” currently sits at number 38 and the song “Lord of Sound” currently sits at number 49 on the Indie-Music Alt-Pop/Brit-Pop top 100.  Woohoo!!

South Cry is heading to record in the Bahamas this June

May 17th, 2010

South Cry, a rock band from Brazil, is heading to the Bahamas to record their new CD this June (2010).  This came as a result of the band not being able to procur American visas.  We had been working on getting visas for the band for more than one year’s time.  Three denials finally led us to decide it was time to go elsewhere.  As luck would have it the band is actually getting to record at Compass Point Studios in the Bahamas.  This studio is arguably better than any studio in America.  Popular artists such as U2, Bob Marley, Rolling Stones, Snoop Dog, Celine Dion, Puff Daddy, Li’L Kim, Lenny Kravitz, Jimmy Buffet, Mariah Carey, AC/DC, and many more have recorded there.  To see the full list of clients just click here:  http://compasspointstudios.com/about/client/client.html

It’s a shame that South Cry won’t be coming to America this summer.  The band was on a roll after teaming up with world class music producer Sylvia Massy of Radio Star Studios located in Weed, California.

Even though the band is not able to visit America yet, their new CD release will be coming.  And hopefully if the CD makes it big the band will get their chance.  Look for the CD to be released this Fall (2010).

World class music producer signs with South Cry

February 9th, 2010

Sylvia Massy will be the band’s first producer.  Sylvia has been the producer for an amazing list of artists but is perhaps best known for her work with the rock band Tool.  She has helped a wide range of artists go multi-platinum.  Her client list has artists from various genres (Barbara Streisand, Aerosmith, The Jackons, etc.).  Some of her best work has been with rock bands such as Red Hot Chili Peppers and System of a Down.  She won a grammy award for her work with Johnny Cash.

The funny thing about landing Sylvia as a producer is that she will actually be the band’s first producer.  The first two CD’s were developed and recorded without the help of a producer.  So the band is going from no producer to one of the best producers in the world.  Crazy happ’n.

Even crazier was having to turn away several other world class producers.  We sent our music to a number of famous successful producers.  Nearly all of them responded strongly and let us know they would be interested in working with our band.  I had to say “thanks but no thanks” to a 5 time Grammy winner!  That was a weird thing to do.

South Cry – Brazil Rock Band CDs released to the United States

September 17th, 2009

South Cry has just released its music into the US market.  The band’s debut album, “Beyond Metaphor”, was originally recorded in 2003 using borrowed instruments and a very simple music studio near their home town of Cordeiro (“Lambtown”), Brazil.  The album was enough to catch the attention of some local radio.  And it won them the help of Paulo Velozzo – an Uncle of lead guitarist Guill Erthal.  Velozzo believed in the band and financed the second album ”Keep An Eye On Me”.  This album was recorded in Rio de Janeiro in 2008.  It proved to be another leap forward for the band.  The song “Whatever You Try” came from this album and if you haven’t heard it yet is especially worth giving a listen to.   Both albums are now available online including through Amazon & iTunes.
